Sorana Cirstea is a Romania professional tennis player. She is currently ranked World No.19 in the WTA rankings. In the first round of e-Boks Sony Ericsson Open, Sorana Cirstea won against Petra Kvitova with 4-6, 6-2 and 6-4.

Sorana Mihaela Cîrstea, (born 7 April 1990) is a Romanian tennis player. Her career high rank was World No. 23, achieved on 17 August 2009, after she reached the quarterfinals of the 2009 French Open and the semifinals of the 2009 Los Angeles Open. She is ranked 63rd in the world as of August 2, 2010.

Fourth-seeded Sorana Cirstea advanced today to the second round at the Ordina Open.
World No.27 Cirstea, who made headlines when she beat Jelena Jankovic on her way to the last eight at Roland Garros, squandered a first-set lead against unorthodox Monica Niculescu but regrouped to post a 57 63 63 victory over her 63rd-ranked compatriot and occasional doubles tennis partner.

“I thought I wouldn’t get on court today, but suddenly the rain stopped and the sun was out,” Cirstea said. “It was tough to play against another Romanian, we’ve played so many times and know so much about each others’ games. I am happy I went through, and hopefully next round I can play better tennis.”
